Welcome To The Course
Why I built this course — and why the second time I sat down for the Part 107 exam, I walked out passed.

I'm Shelton Griffin, owner of Clearpoint Aerial. I run a full-time commercial drone business across 22 counties in North Carolina, and I built this course because the first time I took the Part 107 exam, I failed it.
I want to be straight with you up front about that. I sat down at the PSI testing center, took 60 questions in two hours, and walked out with a number under 70. I paid the $175, drove home, and felt stupid.
A few weeks later I sat down again, took it for the second time, and passed.
The difference between those two attempts wasn't intelligence. It was prep. The first time I used a free YouTube playlist and a couple of cheap study guides. The second time I locked in on the exact topics the FAA tests, drilled them until they clicked, and stopped wasting time on stuff that doesn't show up on the exam.
This course is the second-attempt version. Built for the test, not for showing off.
How This Course Is Organized
The Part 107 exam is built off a specific FAA document called the Airman Certification Standards (ACS). Every question on every test is pulled from the topics in that document. I structured this course module-for-module to match it.
| Module | Topic | What's In It |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Welcome & Logistics | What you're reading right now |
| 1 | Regulations | Part 107 rules, certification, aircraft, Remote ID |
| 2 | Airspace | Class A through G, special use, TFRs |
| 3 | Sectional Charts | Reading the symbols, identifying airspace |
| 4 | Weather | METARs, TAFs, wind, density altitude, fronts |
| 5 | Loading & Performance | Weight, balance, center of gravity |
| 6 | Operations | Pre-flight, ADM, CRM, radio, physiology, emergencies |
| 7 | Exam Prep | Test format, strategy, practice |
| 8 | Bonus — Business | Turning the license into income |
How To Use It
- Read every lesson. Most of this course is written, not video, on purpose. You can skim, re-read, and search. Video is great for some topics but it's slow when you're trying to memorize regulations.
- Watch the embedded videos when they come up. I'll embed videos when their explanation of a specific topic is genuinely better than anything I'd write. The chart-reading and weather sections are way easier with video.
- Don't skip Module 7. I've seen people study for weeks and bomb the exam because they didn't practice the question format. The FAA writes questions in a specific way that throws you off if you've never seen it.
- Some content is bonus. A few topics in here aren't directly on the exam but you'll need them in the field. I'll flag those clearly so you know the difference.
⚠ Honest Note About The Test
The FAA pulls questions from a large bank. Your test will not be identical to mine. Two people who pass on the same day can have totally different questions. The bad news is you can't memorize one practice exam. The good news is if you actually understand the material, you'll pass no matter which questions you get.
That's the goal here. Not memorize. Understand.
Let's go.
